My self portrait process has been slightly delayed by the crazy pre-Thanksgiving hell week, but it's still coming together slowly but surely! I have finished most of the darkest parts, which require the most shading and take the most time, so the rest of the picture should not be too complicated to finish! I'm actually really happy with how this is turning out, I was worried about replicating the mark because this time I am completely on my own, rather than just copying what Salvator Rosa did in his original etching. I actually think I've done a pretty good job replicating the mark, I've tried to create comparing values through sections of dark shading versus simple contour lines like Rosa did. I am also so happy I wore my $5 prom dress in this photo I'm working from, it gives me another opportunity to work on creating value in drapery and I LOVE it! It also shows one of my favorite thrifting purchases ever! I'm going to continue working on my drawing today, and hopefully finish! I'm a little nervous about doing the face, because last time the face was one of the parts I wasn't as happy with, but maybe since I've had more practice the face will come together better this time!
